Cashiers Plein Air Festival
Nationally acclaimed painters from throughout the country set up their easels around Cashiers to capture the natural beauty of the North Carolina Mountains. This type of outdoor location painting is known as en plein air, French for open air. Their original art is displayed for viewing and sale in Cashiers. Special events, ticketed and open to the public, highlight the art and create a community festival atmosphere that draws thousands of attendees to Cashiers and the surrounding area. Other highlights include a special patron party, the Palette to Palate Affair, as well as live demonstrations by the artists.
Cashiers Plein Air Festival is a biennial event held to raise funds to advance the mission of The Village Green, the 12.5-acre park known as the “green heart” at the crossroads of Highway 64 and Highway 107 in Cashiers, NC. The Village Green provides residents and visitors a beautiful, free public space that enriches their lifestyle and preserves the mountain village legacy of the area.
