14th Annual Walter Rodney Symposium

The symposium theme, “Justice Denied: People’s Power, The Struggle Continues,” will explore issues of racism, discrimination, injustice and the general lack of equity in both the past and the present, by examining the ongoing fights for human rights and equal justice in Guyana in the 1970s and 1980s and in the U.S. today. Keynote speakers are Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice Chancellor, University of West Indies and Dr. Joyce King, Benjamin E. Mays Endowed Chair for Urban Teaching, Learning and Leadership, Georgia State University. Other presenters include: Dr. Max Hilaire, Morgan State University; Dr. Keith Jennings, African American Human Rights Foundation; Dr. Bettina Love, University of Georgia; Fielding M. McGeHee, III, The Jonestown Institute; Dr. Matthew J. Smith, University of the West Indies; and Dr. Hilaire Sobers, OAS InterAmerican Commission on Human Rights.
