Ré Phillips, an African-American artist with a growing international reputation, will be launching a solo exhibit Romance with Words in downtown Atlanta on November 11th.
Entrance is free to the public (21+) and RSVP is required.
Ré utilizes her artistic talents to promote civil and human rights, mutual understanding, and the power of shared dialogue. A native of Georgia, and educated at Stanford University and Oxford University, Ré is known for her eclectic paintings that explore art as ethnography. Her paintings have been exhibited in Turkey, India, Spain, England, China, and Northern California.
Twenty pieces of artwork exploring semantics, puns, and pop-culture will be exhibited.
Proceeds from her painting, "Haile Selassie"(2017), will be donated to the Global Education Foundation, a local non-profit that recently took a chess team from Athens, Georgia to the villages of Ethiopia to participate in an international chess tournament.
