Thomas Deans Fine Art is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Cathryn Miles entitled Carpe Diem. The paintings invite us to consider the relationship between the perception of external reality and the expression of an internalized response to it. The exhibition will be on view at 690 Miami Circle #902 from Friday, April 13 through Tuesday, May 8. The gallery is hosting a public opening reception on Friday, April 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Cathryn Miles is among Atlanta’s most popular painters. Her richly patterned abstract “landscapes” have always been inspired by the primitive energy of nature with all its Romantic associations. Her imagery, influenced by her surroundings, creates a highly personal vocabulary reflecting the colors and patterning of nature—clouds, weather, land. She creates her work by building up rich layers of color and pattern in oils. The resulting compositions are less about specifics and more about the artist’s interpretation of and emotional (and at times political) reaction to representations of nature.
