The Dixie Highway Festival will commemorate the development of the Dixie Highway (Route 41) connecting the northern states to the south. Highlighting life on the road and industries that popped up along the route. Educational speakers will deliver programs on Friday 4/21 followed by a mid-day reception and exhibition of period photography. An evening reception will discuss how tourism flourished on the Dixie. Saturday 4/22 will begin with a “Dogs on the Dixie” scavenger hunt to benefit the humane society, while a poker run will take place on the Dixie from East Ridge, TN to Dalton GA. Upon arrival in Dalton will be a cruise in car show complete with food and live music by Saint Elizabeth. During the day the Dalton “Sampler” showcases local downtown restaurants featuring popular items for a set price. Diners make their way through downtown to each participating restaurant to sample different food items.
