This will be our very first Open House at the NEW Shakespeare Academy in honor of Shakespeare's 453rd birthday and there'll be lots of fun things to do!

From 1pm to 5pm, we'll have light hors d' oeuvres and champagne! And of course you'll have an opportunity to:

o rub elbows with your favorite Tavern actors

o tour the new facility

o have a SNEAK PEAK at 30 discrete leaves from a genuine 1632 SHAKESPEARE SECOND FOLIO. These are the premium (meaning the BEST) 30 leaves from what you'll come to know as THE SHAKESPEARE 200: a limited edition of individual leaves originating from a single (imperfect) Shakespeare Second Folio.

Maybe you've seen a Shakespeare First Folio . . . under glass . . . with TWO pages visible. Believe me when I say that this is different. On Sunday April 23rd, you'll be able to hold up to 30 1632 Folio leaves in your very own hands! OK, they are protected by a museum quality acrylic case, but you can see both sides and get up close and personal with some of the greatest passages ever written..

We are very fortunate to have partnered with rare book dealer David Frohman on what he calls the "THE SHAKESPEARE 200 LIMITED EDITION". Starting on April 28th, we'll have an online auction of many of the individual leaves over 10 days, and then on May 17th, we'll feature the BEST leaves for sale via a silent auction at our Shakespeare Tavern Swanky-do on Wednesday May 17th.

Imagine owning the title page of Othello from a 1632 Folio or one of only 62 printings of the leaf containing Hamlet's 'To be or not to be' speech still remaining in private hands.

50% of all proceeds from BOTH auctions will go to benefit our Education work and the new Shakespeare Academy.

In any event, on April 23rd, YOU will be among the first to see these leaves . . . and of course, we'll have rolling tours of our new facility so you can see where our new expanded Classrooms, Artist Housing, Education Administration Offices, and expanded Lobby Bar will be.

We're inviting a lot of folks so please RSVP by emailing!

ALSO, Sunday April 23rd is CLOSING NIGHT of The Canterbury Tales. So if you haven't seen it, come for the Open House and stay for the show (Get tickets here:

. . . and mark your calendars for Wednesday May 17th . . . we may have a Very Special 16th Century Celebrity Guest to preside at the auction (details to follow)!
