Puglanta PugFest 2017 serves as a celebration of all things pug with the goal of raising funds for the Puglanta Dog Rescue, a local Atlanta 501(c)(3) charity. The fundraiser features cute and clever contests including costumes, several themed raffles (including one for a Nintendo Switch!), an extensive silent auction, a Pug Paraphernalia Pickers yard sale, pet pictures with Santa and The Grinch, a pug kissing booth, a microchip clinic, veterinary talks, convenient food trucks and a variety of vendors selling pug paraphernalia for both the pugs and their people.
Puglanta PugFest 2017 is an indoor/outdoor event and will take place rain or shine. Some items to bring include water and bowls for the dogs, chairs and/or blankets for seating, dog waste bags for cleaning, cash and credit cards for shopping. Plus, since parking space is limited, carpooling is encouraged for Puglanta PugFest 2017. All dogs must be leashed (preferably with non-retractable leashes) and well-behaved. Any aggressive dogs will be asked to leave. Also, while no adoptions will take place at Puglanta PugFest 2017, many Puglanta pugs will be on site for meet-n-greets.
A fan favorite at Puglanta PugFest 2017 is the series of contests taking place between 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. The series begins with “Longest Tongue” followed by “Best Trick” and “Curliest Tail”. After some exhilarating and hilarious “Pug Races”, the Store-bought Costume Contest and Home-made Costume Contest finish out the series. After the contests end, the raffle and silent auction winners will be announced at 3:45 p.m.
All during Puglanta PugFest 2017, attendees can enter raffles, bid on silent auction items, take photos, kiss pugs, listen to acoustic music, get their pug microchipped and expressed, shop the yard sale, and visit the vendors. Currently confirmed vendors include: PugKnits, hand-made knits for your pets; Nerdy Pug Studios, Geek Designed-Nerd Approved Dog Outfitters (can be custom made at the event); PureLuxe Pet Foods, high-quality, natural, gourmet pet food; Telia Hanks, original artwork on shirts, cards, magnets and more; Pok's Closet and Crafts, dog clothes/costumes and hand-made pug crafts; Cunning Co., watercolor-illustrated stationary, home goods and gifts; Pontoon Brewing, local craft beer; and Katie Schanck, Your Atlanta Realtor, of Keller Williams.
In addition, Dr. Michelle Tilghman (owner of Loving Touch) will give several short talks about pug health and integrative medicine for pets (a blend of Western and Eastern philosophy—incorporating the best of both, and then tailoring an approach based on the needs of the individual patient).
While tons of treats will be available from vendors at Puglanta PugFest 2017 for the furry ones, humans will be able to eat, too. The following food trucks will be serving up fresh eats on site: ANGELFIRE7 BBQ, Louisiana Purchase Food Truck LLC, Repicci’s Italian Ice & Gelato of Atlanta, and Brainfood Hawt Cheese Market.
