Southern Storytellers: Anis Mojgani and Lonnie Holley (with Nelson Patton)
Grocery on Home and Eddie's Attic Present: Southern Storytellers: Anis Mojgani and Lonnie Holley (with Nelson Patton) Lonnie Holley is a visual artist and musician. Since 1979, Holley has devoted his life to the practice of improvisational creativity. His art and music, born out of struggle, hardship, but perhaps more importantly, out of furious curiosity and biological necessity, has manifested itself in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and sound. Lonnie will be joined by Nelson Patton, a duo of looped trombone (Dave Nelson) and drums & Moog bass pedals (Marlon Patton). The result is a sound greater than the sum of its parts as the two musicians improvise and layer motifs into elaborate Eno-tape-loop-inspired musical landscapes. Anis Mojgani is a two time National Poetry Slam Champion, winner of the International World Cup Poetry Slam, and multiple-time TEDx Speaker. He has been awarded residencies from the Vermont Studio Center, AIR Serenbe, and the Oregon Literary Arts Writers-In-The-Schools program. Anis has performed at numerous universities, festivals, and venues around the globe and has performed for audiences as varied as the House of Blues and the United Nations. His work has appeared on HBO, NPR, and in the pages of such journals as Rattle, Forklift Ohio, Paper Darts, Thrush, and Bat City Review.
