CUMMING, Georgia (March 6, 2017) - Save the Horses’ annual event, Spring EGG-Stravaganza, takes place on Saturday, March 25 from 11a to 4p (Rain or shine) at the horse rescue farm at 1768 Newt Green Road in Cumming, GA. About the Spring EGG-Stravaganza The farm opens up the Spring season with a fundraiser that features a good old fashioned Easter egg hunt. Plus visitors will experience fun for all ages with hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, homebaked goods, vendors selling gifts and services and much more. This festive event is the perfect way for families to welcome in Spring with opportunities to meet and greet our horses and the animals in the petting zoo such as pigs, goats, sheep, chickens turkeys and ducks. Additionally Rosie, our resident cow, is certain to make an appearance...in costume! “The goal of this fundraiser is to introduce the public to the farm and our animals while raising funds to continue to feed, rescue, and rehabilitate abandoned, abused and neglected horses. Our mission is to find homes for the horses that we rehabilitate but unfortunately many animals that are older or have medical or behavioral issues remain at the farm. We are a no-kill sanctuary.” Says Cheryl Flanagan, the rescue’s Director. Currently, the rescue is home to 100 horses and 30 other rescued animals. With no federal or state funding, the 501(c)(3) non-profit has to rely on donations to meet its $10,000 per month operational expenses. “It is important for us to raise the money to buy feed & hay and continue helping horses stay healthy and safe. With the economic instability over the past few years, donations have slowed down but the amount of horses needing help has increased tremendously. We are heartbroken to turn a needy horse down.” Says Cheryl. Vendors Needed Vendors are needed for the Spring EGG-Stravaganza event at Save the Horses. The fee is only $25 for a 12’ x 12’ space.
