Urban Recipe, a community-based food co-operative serving metro Atlanta families, is celebrating its 25th anniversary and honoring retiring founder and former executive director Chad Hale at its inaugural “Tummy & Soul” event on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Mason Fine Art. Urban Recipe’s community of co-op members, staff and supporters will use the occasion to launch the Chad Hale Legacy Fund to support and expand the mission and work of Urban Recipe across Atlanta, the United States and abroad. The event features a photo exhibit, “People of Urban Recipe,” by acclaimed Atlanta photographer Johnathon Kelso; and paintings by Atlanta folk artist and Urban Recipe member Constance Hawkins (1962 – 2003). Attendees will also be treated to light fare and live entertainment. Co-chairing the event are two prominent former Atlanta Community Food Bank executives: Bill Bolling, founder and former executive director, and his wife Haqiqa; and Rob Johnson, former vice president of community services, and his wife Carolyn.
