The United States Air Force Airmen of Note are live on tour and will be kicking off the Memorial Day weekend by performing a free concert at The Classic Center Theatre on Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m.
Complimentary tickets will be available to the public at 10 a.m. this Monday, April 17 at The Classic Center box office.
This concert is part of a four day Florida-Georgia community relations tour stopping in Athens, Augusta, Savannah and Jacksonville. This tour takes place on the heels of a new studio recording session, which will be released later this year, and the band will be lighting-up the stage performance selections from this repertoire. The new recording will feature music written by veterans of the United States Armed Forces as arranged by current and former members of the band.
Other Airmen of Note performance highlights include the 2017 Airmen of Note Jazz Heritage Series, featuring critically acclaimed vocalist Nnenna Freelon, Grammy Award-winning drummer Peter Erskine and master trombonist Marshall Gilkes, as well as highlights from the USAF Airmen of Note Summer Concert Series, which included numerous performances around Washington, D.C. In addition, 2017 is the 70th anniversary of the United States Air Force.
Tickets are required for entry, and are limited to four per person. Regular box office hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m-1 p.m. on Saturday.
