This class is geared toward beginning, intermediate, and advanced figure drawing students, emphasizing issues of representational drawing and draftsmanship. Students explore spatial relationships & volumetrics while exploring the bonds between line, mass, observation, and experimentation while developing a strong ability to see, compose, understand and dynamically render the human body. All drawing media are acceptable (charcoal pencils, color pencils, pastels, conte, & watercolor) to describe the body's physical structure, attitude, proportion, dynamics & tension. A group critique of the work will conclude each class. Live models will be used for all classes. Model fees collected by the instructor at the first class. See www.spruillarts.org for a list of supplies you will need to bring to class.
