Out Front Theatre Company will present Jonathan Tolins’ hysterical one-man tour-de-force Buyer and Cellar, March 8-25 as the third show in the company’s 2017-2018 season. Featuring a satirical look the relationship among idols and idolaters, the production is sure to be relatable for all audiences. This show is part of a co-production with ART Station in Stone Mountain, where it received raving reviews during a weekend engagement in September 2017.
Alex More has a story to tell. After being fired as the mayor of Toontown at Disneyland, the struggling actor in Los Angeles decides to take a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. At first, Alex does not meet his employer, but one day Barbra Streisand, the Lady Herself, comes downstairs to play. It feels like a real bonding experience in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? Winner of the 2014–2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show, Buyer and Cellar is an outrageous comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things and the oddest of odd jobs.
