The Parents’ Association of Brandon Hall School, an independent boarding and day school located on 27 acres overlooking the Chattahoochee River on the edge of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, is pleased to announce the inaugural running of the Brandon Haul 5K road race to be held on March 24.
Instead of a dinner-auction gala popular at other schools, the race is the school’s major fund-raiser.
“Since half of our students are boarders, many of our parents live too far away to attend a local event,” said Beth Reaves, Parents’ Association president and Brandon Haul 5K chair. “So, we decided to do something to involve our local community instead.”
The race will start at the school and weave throughout its leafy residential neighborhood.
“Many people don’t even know we’re here,” said Reaves of the peaceful campus tucked into the woods along the Chattahoochee. “Inviting the community to our campus will let people see how beautiful it is.”
To assure a quality experience for all, the parents hired a well-known race director, Elite Race Timing, to manage the event.
“The fact that the race is professionally managed is just another surprise about our school,” said race co-chair Rose Hicks-Lay. “We’re small, but our students get a world-class education.”
The race is open to all ages and levels of runners from running enthusiasts to walkers and virtual runners. Even strollers and dogs are welcome, though only runners will be eligible for awards.
Registration is now available online and at the school on race day starting at 6:45 am, with a race start at 8:00 am. Everyone who registers by March 7 is guaranteed a commemorative race T-shirt.
Sponsorships are available at several levels, with recognition on the race website and the T-shirt.
“Our ultimate goal is to bring together local residents, running enthusiasts and the Brandon Hall School community for a safe and fun activity,” said Reaves
