LECTURE: To celebrate the return of the special exhibit Brain Teasers 2, The Magical Mr. McClure will amaze us with his illusions and discuss how our minds perceive his state-of-the-art magical effects.
FREE PLANETARIUM SHOW: Heart of the Sun
New space-based telescopes, along with a new generation of terrestrial instruments, capture both the fine surface detail and the vast eruptions of the corona with unprecedented clarity and for the first time take us right inside a living star. Heart of the Sun delivers new breathtaking, high-resolution motion pictures never before seen in a full-dome theater.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.
Show times are 5:15 PM, 6 PM, 6:45 PM, 7:30 PM, and 8:15 PM.
OBSERVATORY: Enjoy solar viewing 5 – 8 PM and then as it gets dark, look for the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Hercules star cluster M13.
KIDS ACTIVITY: Optical illusions? We’ve got them! Try your hand at various brain teasers – some of which you can try at home.
