Join us February 24 from 3-5 p.m. to explore ways to pursue design careers. This field trip will take us to Miami Ad School at Portfolio Center, where you can learn about the different ways that you can pursue creative careers.
The Portfolio Center Team will give us a tour of their space and help us understand how to take the next step in pursuing a design career by sharing their stories, process, and advice. We'll even get a chance to get hands-on and try mapping our design careers. By the end of this field trip, you'll have a good sense of how to pursue a career in design and advertising, and what's necessary to be successful.
A BIT ABOUT PORTFOLIO CENTER
Portfolio Center, founded in 1978 by Ron Seichrist, is the first portfolio school in the world. Based on his own experience working in advertising and design, Ron reimagined education. He understood how all the disciplines are interconnected and decided to start the first school that would have the students in the different disciplines interacting the way they do in the real world while being mentored by creative professionals.
Housed in a 1940's factory building at the end of Bennett Street in Atlanta, Portfolio Center feels more like an agency than it does a school. The spaces are unexpected. The outside walls are covered with street art by artists from around the world. The inside is equipped with a content creation studio, maker lab, co-working spaces, conference room style classrooms and multiple galleries displaying student work.
We will meet in the lobby of Miami Ad School at Portfolio Center at 3 p.m. This event costs $15 for non-members and $10 for MODA members. Parking is plentiful in the lot around the building.

This field trip is part of MODA's Teen Jam series which offers emerging designers (ages 15 - 20) the opportunity to explore a wide range of design fields at top local studios, speak to designers leading their fields, and participate in hands-on activities.
MODA's Teen Jam aims to support the designers of tomorrow as they explore and grow in the first steps of their careers. We're focusing on hosting field trips, but will host a wide range of events and programming.
