The DeKalb Symphony Orchestra is excited to welcome distinguished Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Horn Brice Andrus on November 13, 2018, performing Gliere’s Horn Concerto.
Mr. Andrus joined the ASO in 1966, while still a student at Georgia State University, and moved up to the principal’s chair in 1975. His recent solo appearances with the Atlanta Symphony include Richard Strauss Horn Concerto No. 2, Oliver Knussen’s Concerto for Horn, the Britten Serenade, and Mozart’s Concerto No. 4. He has recorded over 80 albums with the ASO, including the first digital symphony orchestra recording and 12 Grammy winners.
Mr. Andrus has toured on several occasions with Summit Brass and was a featured artist at the International Horn Society Workshops in 1993 and 1999 at which he received the Society’s Punto Award recognizing distinguished service. He has performed in festivals at Highlands/Cashiers, Amelia Island, Grand Tetons, and Bellingham, WA. He also was a featured artist at the 2011 and 2012 National Brass Symposiums. He has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Zürich Chamber Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and National Symphonies.
This concert titled “From Russia with Love,” will also include the orchestra performing
Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan & Ludmilla and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite.
The performance will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the Marvin Cole Auditorium at Georgia State University, Clarkston Campus.
